Christos Dimitrakakis - Band Bio
I started writing music when I had a flute. I was 8 years old and I was definitely not Mozart. Then came the Spectrum 48K in my posession. And a guitar. I tried to program music on the spectrum. Those of you that do not recall, the spectrum had a piezoelectric speaker that could only emit a single square-wave at frequencies, theoretically at any frequency. I started transcribing stuff to the speccy, and managed to write a couple of pieces of music, but there was no polyphony until I used some awful cludges to do that. This was based on the human ear perception of overlapping sounds. I had the loudspeaker switch between 2 or more frequences in less than 1/10th of a second and thus you could get the impression of continuous polyphonic sound. Good enough for me.

Move on some years to the Amiga and sampling, some Rap songs that were ridiculing teachers and fellow students, also some sample-based metal songs. This was followed by a period of either extremely repetitive or extremely varying Techno songs, depending on my mood, and my brief involvement with internet group Bane.

List of songs made with the amiga: http://ftp.uni-paderborn.de/aminetbin/find?olethros

I reached the age of maturiry when I produced Fungi, which, while not a masterpiece, forced me to develop new arrangement techniques. I was not completely out of the Techno phase, but now, with large memory and HD in my disposal it was possible to actually record LIVE guitar and singing, so I went on a singing binge. Started to produce darkwave, alternative and psychedelic rock tracks. There are some finer points to remember when one uses recorded material, mixing is not so straightforward and it takes a lot more time, but some of my later songs are better. Unfortunately, it usually takes more than 2-3 production cycles to get a song sounding just right.

One of the things I enjoy doing is creating new sounds. Thus, I have started a new project on sourceforge: http://vsound.sourceforge.net - please contribute if you can!

Now I have started to become involved in funk and am starting a live band that is composed of artists coming from heavy metal, psychedelic rock and french music. (I think that is a category on its own, hehe) - We hope to make some live appearences and if we manage to record something live I'd put it on this site.

Geia!
