The backing track is based on the rhythmic idea of the first riff in the much older 5/8 Blues - this time however there are more than two chords and rather than having the two rhythm guitars playing simple, short melodic lines that complement each other, they are much more self-reliant and play simple, short chords with tiny little phrases as decoration more than anything else.
Thus, while 5/8 is characterised by interlocking melodic phrases picked up and varied upon by each and every guitar in the mix, this tune follows a more traditional pattern in the sense that the lead is much more prominent in the mix. However, the chords here follow a much more satisfying sequence and the considerable difference between my technique and playing style with Guitaroo's makes the whole thing a bit more spicy.
